Pride- is it a good thing?

Hello everyone, this is the devotional that I wrote for March.
~Samantha

Pride causes trouble.
People who are proud often end up in perilous situations. Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Most people don't like a proud person. When a proud person has trouble people usually don't want to help him; they often mock him instead. Jeremiah 50:32a says, “The most proud shall stumble and fall, And no one will raise him up;”
Someone who is proud doesn't think he needs God. He thinks he is sufficient for himself. Psalm 10:4 says, “The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.”
1 Timothy 3:6 warns us that if someone is 'puffed up with pride' he will have the same consequence as the Devil. “lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.”

The LORD hates pride. “Pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate.” Proverbs 8:13
Proverbs 6:16-17a tells us that a proud look is one of the top seven things the LORD hates. “These six things the LORD hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look...”
The LORD wants us to give all glory to Him, not be proud of ourselves.
Jeremiah 13:15-16a say “Hear and give ear: Do not be proud, for the LORD has spoken. Give glory to the LORD your God”.
1 John 2:16 says that the pride of life a worldly thing. We should not be proud because it is not what the LORD desires for us, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world”.
Proverbs 21:4 clearly states that having a proud heart is a sin, “A haughty look, a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked are sin”.
Since pride is a sin we should not speak proudly, or think proud thoughts. 1 Samuel 2:3 says,“Talk no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is the God of knowledge; and by Him actions are weighed.”

Humility brings good results. Pride causes trouble, but humility brings wisdom and honor. Proverbs 11:2says, “When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom”. Proverbs 29:23 says, “A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor”.
Proverbs 15:33 says, “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility”, and Proverbs 22:4 says, “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life”. These verses tell that those who fear the LORD and are humble will be rewarded. The humble may not be rewarded on earth, but they will get their full reward in heaven.

Humility is the opposite of pride. The LORD delights in humility. He blesses those who are humble.
“James 4:6b says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble”.
We need to seek the LORD first, then righteousness, and humility.
We as believers need to put on humility. Colossians 3:12 says, “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;”

Pride is not a good thing. It causes trouble, the LORD hates it, and it is a sin. Humility is a good thing. A humble attitude is the correct attitude. Humility brings good results , the LORD delights in it, and it is an attitude we are commanded to have.
